World Spay Day Comes to Cary With Free Clinic As part of World Spay Day, an international campaign by the Humane Society of the United States, the Town of Cary and C-CARE (Cary Companion Animal Resources & Education) Team will host a free spay/neuter clinic on February 24, 2012 at the Chatham Square Shopping Center, 744 East Chatham Street. Space is limited to 30 appointments and priority will be given to low-income residents. Applications for an appointment are available at the Town of Cary Police Department, 120 Wilkinson Avenue; applications must be returned by February 15, 2012. Thursday, February 16, 4:00-5:30pm: Kidzu's Community Crossing with FRANK Gallery Join Kidzu this month as we tour FRANK's current exhibition, Body and Soul, with exhibiting artist, Sandy Milroy. Sandy is a local mixed-media artist who uses handmade papers and acrylic paint in her beautiful abstract compositions. Get up-close and personal with original artwork and an artist as we look, discuss, and create! We will meet at FRANK Gallery and finish our workshop in the Kidoodle Moodle Art Studio in Kidzu Children's Museum. Sign up for this exciting Community Crossings Program today! $8 per child age 4-8. Monday, February 27 from 4:00-5:00pm: Kids in the Kitchen with Butternut Squash Kidzu and local restaurant, Butternut Squash, are teaming up for an exciting hands-on food workshop. The professionals at Butternut Squash will be leading an interactive workshop during which your child will have the chance to get up close and personal with cooking. We will be learning about various fruits and vegetables and how to use them to create a delicious and healthy soup. If you're looking for a volunteer experience, community service or conservation project for yourself or your group, join forces with the Town of Cary's Stevens Nature Center. Assist staff with trail maintenance and improvements to aid in recreation and conservation efforts. These projects will involve hand tools and will be labor intensive; best for ages 10 and up.
